Scrapyard Tote – Free Pattern

Hey loves, how are you? We hope to find you all well, willing to learn another beautiful pattern with us. That’s what we want, to continue sharing the most beautiful ideas with you. Today we are going to make a bag, one of the most indispensable pieces in our daily lives. The Scrapyard Tote is a beautiful, colorful bag with plenty of space for you to carry your things on a daily basis. There’s no way we can go out and take everything we need in our hands.

It’s a wallet, cell phone, keys, diary, and only with a bag that fits everything we can be more relaxed. This bag is all sewn and the result is incredible. In the pattern, it was chosen to use colored fabrics and with different prints. You can take advantage of the idea and follow the same color palette or make it with the color you prefer. To make the blocks stand out, you can place colors that contrast close together.

The strap too, you can make the size that you feel most comfortable and that you are used to wearing. Today there are ready-made kits, with the number of blocks in the right size to make the tote. If you prefer to use the fabrics you already have at home, with beautiful combinations and quality fabrics, we are sure it will be perfect too. The zipper is the doubt of most people who practice this craft.

In the pattern you will find the right place to finish up using the zipper technique. You could also put a magnetic snap closure here if you like, the possibilities are endless. We separate the list of materials you will need. Have a look at what you have at home and choose beautiful fabrics to make the scrapyard tote:

  • 1/2 yard of lining fabric;
  • 1/3 yard of handle fabric;
  • two pieces of quilt batting approximately 15’’ x 15’’ (I used Hobbs 100% wool batting and I’ll explain why below);
  • 1/4 yard fusible fleece interfacing for the handles;
  • quilt basting spray (such as SpraynBond);
  • interface for the lining, if desired;
  • zippers and/or a magnetic snap closure, as desired.
