The cutting dimensions for each piece are as follows:

  • Center Cross: (4) 2½” x 11½” strips

Green:

Creating the Block

  1. Cut the 3½” Background squares diagonally in half.
  2. Stack two pairs of Purple and Green 2½” x 6½” Star Point rectangles right sides together. Cut off one end at a 45° angle. Stack all pieces right side up.
  3. With right sides together, sew the Background triangles to the Star Points. Ensure the tips hang out equally on both sides for a symmetrical look. Assembly-line sew these pieces together.
  4. Press the seams towards the Star Points and trim off the tips.
  5. Cut the 9½” Background Square on both diagonals.
  6. Lay out the Star Points with the Background Triangle and the 2½” square. Make two sets of each colorway.
  7. Flip the patches on the right over the patches on the left and assembly line sew. Press the seams towards the Star Points. Turn the work 90° and sew the remaining seam.
  8. Press seams away from the triangle.
  9. Lay out the Star Points with the 2½” x 11½” Strips and the Center Square. Flip vertical rows, then sew to complete the Rows. Press seams toward the strips.
  10. Press seams towards the Strips, then sew the Rows together. Press seams towards the Strips once more.
  11. Finally, square up the block to 16½” for a neat finish.
